KAMIENNE OGRODY

The name Kamienne Ogrody first appeared in Maków in the middle of the 1990s when Piotrek Damiecki and Mirek Ankiewicz, at that time students of the local high school, fascinated by the achievements of Iron Maiden, Motorhead and Slayer, decided to found a rock group. The first songs they finally managed to perform, after the period of intensive training in the local MDK, had a lot in common with heavy metal. At first as Gardens of Stone, then since 1994 as Kamienne Ogrody, the band has started its journey through various music styles. Beginning with trash metal they went through hard rock and blues until the moment they found their own way and style.
The latest history of the group has been recorded since January, 1997, when the new guitarist, vocalist and bassist joined the band. Since then the new style has begun to appear it can be best described as the mixture of tradition and mode rock music. Nowadays you can find more crucial issues accompanied by the specific, mysterious atmosphere in the work of the group. It is the result of the efforts of the open-minded people, opened for, not only rock music.
“Thus, in our repertoire, you will find pieces hard, based on riffs with broken rhythms and zappy solo performances together with ballads played on acoustic guitars, with choruses and meaningful lyrics. The lyrics are highly important in our work, it is mainly responsible for the atmosphere in the individual songs. The music completes the lyrics perfectly and adds to their meaning. The lyrical aspect of our work has been appreciated many times, also by professionals like Andrzej Mogielnicki, who is responsible for the lyrics of many Polish musical scene giants.”
Zbyszek is the author of the leading melody, the main idea of the music as well as the lyrics. "I write my lyrics under the impression of some personal experience being the cause of strong emotions. I realise that what I write is not at all funny but this is strongly connected with my life, the atmosphere of the place where I grew up. The story is the same with music. I never try to compose anything, it just happens. After that I present my ideas to the rest of the group, they are usually accepted and developed by all of us”.
